i like to think that most people wouldn't share their favorite books unless they were pretty sure the other person already got whatever the book was trying to say.
i mean, i don't think i'd want my favorite book wasted on somebody who didn't get it.

I've always enjoyed learning from books, especially those that challenge my own point of view. I might not share a book with someone who would likely neither understand nor make an effort to understand, but I question if a book could ever be completely "wasted".
hm...I wouldn't lend a favorite book of mine to some one who wouldn't "get it". But I would be happy to tell them about it and if they were truly interested I'd let them look it up and read it on their own time.
