Stepping aside from politics and personal relations here, this grammatical construction is actually correct in Portuguese. That is, the second and third person are the same. (Apparently there used to be an additional form, but that is now considered archaic.)
I wonder what implications this has for gender identity in Portuguese-language communities. You can bet I'm paying close attention to catch these clues.
